Maine Application For Reservation of Name is a process used in the state of Maine to reserve a business name before it is officially registered. The application is used to reserve a name for up to 120 days, allowing businesses to be sure the name is available before filing the actual business registration documents. There are two types of Maine Application For Reservation of Name: 1) For Profit and 2) Nonprofit. The application requires the user to provide their name, address, and contact information, as well as the name of the business, the business type (for-profit or nonprofit), and the purpose of the business. Once the application is completed and submitted, it will be reviewed by the Secretary of State and the name will either be approved or rejected. If approved, the user will be issued a Certificate of Reservation which will allow them to use the name for up to 120 days while they complete the business registration process.
