The Maine Disclosure of Compensation of Bankruptcy Petition Preparer (B2800) is a form used by bankruptcy petition preparers (also known as a BPP) to disclose the fees they are charging for preparing a bankruptcy petition for a client. It must be signed by the BPP and the debtor and filed with the Bankruptcy Court prior to the bankruptcy filing. The form includes such information as the BPP's name and address, the fee structure, the total amount of compensation requested, and a statement that the BPP has provided a copy of the disclosure to the debtor. The form also includes a section for the BPP to declare that he/she has explained the bankruptcy process to the debtor in accordance with the Bankruptcy Code and Rules. There are two versions of this form: B2800 for Chapter 7 bankruptcies, and B2800A for Chapter 13 bankruptcies.
