The Illinois Notice of Filing for Expungement and/or Sealing is a document filed by an individual in order to initiate the process of expungement or sealing of their criminal record. The Illinois Notice of Filing for Expungement and/or Sealing is used for both adults and juveniles and serves as an official notice to the court that the individual is requesting for their criminal record to be expunged or sealed. There are two types of Illinois Notice of Filing for Expungement and/or Sealing: Adult Expungement or Sealing and Juvenile Expungement or Sealing. The Adult Expungement or Sealing is used when an individual is requesting for their criminal record to be expunged or sealed after they have been convicted of a crime as an adult. The Juvenile Expungement or Sealing is used when an individual is requesting for their criminal record to be expunged or sealed after they have been convicted of a crime as a juvenile. The Illinois Notice of Filing for Expungement and/or Sealing must be filed with the court and a copy must be served to the prosecuting attorney and the arresting agency.
