The Illinois Notice of Rejection of Award is a document used to notify a contractor that their bid for a public works contract has been rejected. This document is used to formally reject a bid and the Illinois Department of Transportation (DOT) uses it to provide an explanation to the contractor about why their bid was not accepted. There are two types of Illinois Notice of Rejection of Award: (1) Technical Rejection, in which the bid was found to be inadequate due to technical reasons; and (2) Non-Technical Rejection, in which the bid was found to be inadequate for reasons other than technical. The Notice of Rejection of Award also provides the contractor with the opportunity to protest the rejection.
