Illinois Provisional Order (formerly order pure. To mud. Med.) is the term used in the state of Illinois to refer to court orders that are obtained by a party seeking a provisional remedy prior to a final order being issued. This type of order is issued to protect a party’s interest in a case and can be used to order a party to do or refrain from doing something. There are two types of provisional orders: temporary restraining orders (Bros) and preliminary injunctions. A TO is an order that is issued without notice to the opposing party and is usually limited in duration. A preliminary injunction is a more permanent order that is issued after notice to the opposing party and requires a bond to be posted by the party seeking the injunction. Both types of orders are intended to preserve the status quo of the case until a final resolution is reached.
