Georgia Summons Continuing Garnishment For Support is a legal process by which a court can order a debtor's employer to withhold a portion of the debtor's wages to satisfy a child support or alimony obligation. This process is also referred to as wage garnishment. The employer must comply with the court order and forward the money that is withheld from the debtor’s wages to the petitioner. There are two types of Georgia Summons Continuing Garnishment For Support: 1. The first type is a one-time garnishment, wherein the employer is ordered to withhold a certain amount from the debtor’s wages and forward it to the petitioner. 2. The second type is a continuing garnishment, wherein the employer is required to withhold a certain amount from the debtor’s wages each pay period until the debt is paid in full. The debtor must be notified in advance of the garnishment, and the employer must comply with the court order. The employer is not allowed to terminate the debtor’s employment or take other forms of retribution for the garnishment.
