Florida Cancellation of Lien is a legal procedure whereby an existing lien on a property is removed from the public record. A lien is a legal right that a creditor has to a debtor's property, such as a house, car, or other asset. A lien is usually placed when a debtor fails to pay a loan or other debt. A Florida Cancellation of Lien is a request by the creditor to the court to remove the lien from the public record. There are two types of Florida Cancellation of Lien: voluntary and involuntary. Voluntary Cancellation of Lien is when the creditor agrees to remove the lien. Involuntary Cancellation of Lien is when the court orders the lien to be removed from the public record. In either case, the lien must still be paid by the debtor in order for the lien to be completely removed.
