The Connecticut Application for Civil Protection Order is a legal form used to seek protection from an abuser or harasser in the state of Connecticut. It is a type of restraining order that is filed in the Connecticut Superior Court, which can prevent an abuser or harasser from having any contact with the filer. There are three types of Connecticut Application for Civil Protection Orders: the Ex Parte Protective Order, the Stalking Protective Order, and the Family Violence Protective Order. The Ex Parte Protective Order is issued without the abuser being present and can last for up to 14 days, while the other two orders require the abuser to be present in court. The Stalking Protective Order can last up to one year and can include restraining orders against cyberstalking and harassment. The Family Violence Protective Order can be issued for up to two years and can include restraining orders against physical violence, sexual abuse, and threats of violence. All three types of orders can also include orders to vacate a shared residence, surrender firearms, and pay financial support.
