Arkansas Juvenile AJJ DAYS Release/Review Hearing Disposition is a process through which the Arkansas Juvenile Division of the Department of Youth Services (DAYS) reviews a juvenile’s progress and determines whether to release the juvenile from detention or to extend their stay in detention. There are two main types of Arkansas Juvenile AJJ DAYS Release/Review Hearing Disposition: release and extension. In the release hearing, the court determines whether the juvenile should be released from detention or not. The court considers factors such as the juvenile's age, criminal history, and the seriousness of the offense. If the court finds that the juvenile is capable of safely being released into the community, the juvenile may be released on parole or to an alternative program. In the extension hearing, the court considers whether the juvenile should remain in detention or be released. The court considers the juvenile’s progress and behavior while in detention and decides if the juvenile is capable of safely being released into the community or if the juvenile should remain in detention. The court also considers the juvenile’s age, criminal history, and the seriousness of the offense. If the court finds that the juvenile should be released, the juvenile may be released on parole or to an alternative program.
