The South Carolina Notice of Federal Firearms Prohibition is a document that states when a person is prohibited by federal law from possessing, transporting, shipping, or receiving firearms or ammunition. This document is issued by a court, law enforcement agency, or other governmental entity in the state of South Carolina. There are three types of South Carolina Notice of Federal Firearms Prohibition: (1) The South Carolina Domestic Violence Notice, which is issued when a person is subject to a domestic violence restraining order; (2) The South Carolina Mental Health Notice, which is issued when a person is involuntarily committed to a mental health facility or judged to be mentally incompetent; and (3) The South Carolina Drug Notice, which is issued when a person is convicted of a felony drug offense.
