Select versus Dropdown A select presents a list of options from which the users can select only one item from that list. It works best in forms when users choose an option from the select list and submit data. A dropdown presents a list of options that users can select one or several options from that list.
The following terms are important to understand as you read this article: A standard list box is a box containing a list of multiple items, with multiple items visible. A drop-down list is a list in which the selected item is always visible, and the others are visible on demand by clicking a drop-down button.

A List Box is a form field that displays a list of possible choices for a user to select from. Unlike a dropdown menu (Combo Box option), the choices are always visible. Click on List Box found in the Forms Module. You will see the outline for the list box appear on your document.
Click on the PDF and drag the rectangle to the size and shape you want. When you're done, right click on the drop down list to edit the properties of the list, including appearance, items in the list, actions, and more.
As with listboxes, users can scroll depending on how many items are revealed when the options have been clicked on and expanded. With a dropdown list, the selected option continues to be visible in a container box while the other list items are hidden until you click on the down-arrow.
