Items are scored on the following syndrome scales: Emotionally Reactive, Anxious/Depressed, Somatic Complaints, Withdrawn, Attention Problems, Aggressive Behavior, and Sleep Problems.

The CBCL is a 120 item parent-report, which provides a measure of behavioral and emotional functioning and social competence of youth, aged six to 18 (Achenbach, 1991). The CBCL has been updated to include DSM-oriented scales, and to complement the new preschool version for children aged 18 months to 5 years.

The Child Behaviour Checklist (CBCL/6–18) is a 113-item parent report measure designed to assess behavioural and emotional problems in children and young people aged 6–18 years.
