To renew your Texas LTC you will not need to take a class or submit fingerprints again. You simply renew online on the DPS website by logging in as a “returning user”. You can renew up to 6 months early, if you try any earlier the renewal link won't be there when you log in.

Complete The Online LTC/CHL Class Complete the self paced online class. Come and go as needed. Each section is roughly 15 minutes. You are immediately given access to your DPS LTC-104 (Formerly called a LTC-101 if issued prior to May 1st 2024).
An initial CHL expires on the license holder's first birthday following the four-year anniversary of the issuance of the license. In other words, an intial license is valid for four (4) years, and in many cases, for some additional months. All renewed licenses are valid for five (5) years.
