Firearm licenses are difficult to get, see the gov.uk website for details. You need to be registered with a GP and part of the checks involves your medical records. There will be an interview and possibly a home inspection - more likely in your case as you won't really appear UK systems for a while.
Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968 prohibits a person from possession of any type of firearm if you have been given a custodial sentence when convicted of a criminal offence.
You must disclose any relevant physical or mental health conditions that you have been diagnosed with or treated for in the past as this may affect your ability to safely possess and use a firearm or shotgun.
The Possession and Acquisition Licence ( PAL ) is the only licence available to new applicants aged 18 or older. You must pass the Canadian Firearms Safety Course before you can apply for a PAL . PALs are renewed every 5 years.
