Virginia does not require firearm registration nor is it necessary to obtain a permit before carrying a firearm or other such weapon openly about the person except where prohibited by statute.
The court shall issue the permit within 45 days of receipt of the completed application unless it appears that the applicant is disqualified.

You will need to contact the authorities within your state to determine if they will honor Virginia's Nonresident Concealed Handgun Permit in your state of residence.
Fairfax (city) - all carry (open and concealed with CHP) prohibited in local government buildings, parks, and community and recreation centers. There is no prohibition for permitted events. A violation is a Class 4 misdemeanor (up to a $250 fine and no jail time).
