Slusher hall is a very special place to live, unlike any other dorm at Virginia Tech. As the tallest dorm on campus, it has the best views of the surrounding areas and mountains, which makes it extra special.
As a result of the lottery, students will either receive a housing contract offer or not. Those who receive an offer will subsequently get a lottery timeslot if they accept the housing offer and sign the contract by the deadline. They will then go into the system to pick their room / roommate.
Each student who resides on campus is required to sign a Housing/Dining Contract prior to assignment. When the Housing/Dining Contract is signed and returned to Virginia Tech, it becomes a legally binding agreement ‐ a contract ‐ between the student and the University.
You should enter the Housing Application Process (HAP) in the StarRez Portal to be considered for on-campus housing. Housing Offer Notification and Completion Housing contract offers will be distributed to successful applicants approximately one week after the HAP closes to the student's @vt e-mail account.
Finding your place. If you're a first-year student, you are guaranteed university housing and required to live in the residence halls unless you are a transfer student or an exception is approved.
All first-year students are required to live on campus, are guaranteed housing, and must have a dining plan. However, students must complete their housing/dining contract to be assigned a room.
All incoming first-year freshmen students must live on campus and are required to sign their housing contracts by June 1 before the upcoming academic year. Students who seek an exception to the Freshman Residency Requirement should request a waiver through the StarRez Portal.
The deadline for Early Action application is November 15. Notification of admissions decision for this group is in late February. First-year applicants applying for Regular Decision must submit a completed application by January 15 and will receive a notification of the admission decision in mid-March.
Generally, no other people may move in with you without a written change to the lease signed by you and the landlord.
