The Housing Deposit is $200 payable as follows: (1) online with a credit card or an eCheck by going to .ohio/myhousing (opens in a new window) and clicking on the “Applications” tab; or (2) a personal check mailed to: Office of the Bursar, P.O. Box 960, Chubb Hall 010, Athens, OH 45701-0960.
The roommate selection process is available beginning December 2 if matching with a returning student. If a transfer student wishes to be matched with an incoming first year student they can do so beginning May 1 when the first year roommate matching opens.
If you would like to share your room with a specific person, you will need to indicate your roommate preference. Students can submit a roommate request, and once approved, they will be paired together.
You will only be able to request to live with someone who is participating in the same program as you. How to form a roommate pair? Step 1: Make sure both students have completed their housing contracts including their Space Reservation and Filing Fees AND have received a contract received email from housing@osu.
Students submitting a housing contract after May 1 can email housing@ohio with any room type or roommate preferences. Our office will make every effort to honor requests.
Students select from single, double, triple and quad room types. While doubles are by far the highest inventory of rooms, some of each type is available. However, we cannot guarantee that each student will be matched with their first choice of room type.

Roommate matches must be completely mutual to be valid Anyone you request as a roommate must confirm this request to be valid, and vice versa. You can see all requests you have sent or received and the status of that match in the myHousing portal .
Websites like Craigslist, Padmapper, and Roomie Match can help you find the right roommate for you. Such sites allow you to build a profile or post an ad seeking out a roommate to meet your needs.
