Starting in March, you have the option to search for a roommate in the housing portal. If you don't want to choose a roommate, you will receive a random roommate (about half of our residents choose to live with a random roommate).
If you have a roommate, after you select a room, you can ``pull'' them into the same room. If your roommate has a higher priority date, and can pick first, then they can pick the room and pull you in. If you select a room, but don't have a roommate, UF will match you to a roommate, no worries.
Worry not! Colleges do not let you go through choosing a roommate solely on your own. Many colleges have a matching system to pair you with your future roommate. If they do not, they might do it manually within their housing department.
Most singles are rare and depend on the dorm as a whole. Also, they are much more expensive. Depending on your situation, you are better off in a apartment where you get more privacy for less.
Room Selection This time is determined by when you completed your Housing Application. At your scheduled appointment time, you can select a room. If you are in a roommate group, the person with the earliest appointment time will select the room on behalf of the group.
Students should complete their Fall/Spring housing contract as soon as possible. Students with completed contracts will be able to submit a roommate request on the housing portal during the dates listed, typically early March through mid-April provided that both students have submitted a housing contract.
A Student cancellation request must be expressly authorized by the terms and conditions of this Agreement, must be made via the Housing Portal, and must result from one of the circumstances set forth in this Article 4. The University may, within its sole discretion, deny all other cancellation requests.
In order to secure a preferred roommate, both students must complete the following action items: One student MUST request the other through the Online Housing Portal. Once on the online housing portal, revisit your housing contract in order to search for and/or request a roommate.
A Roommate Agreement is a written contract between roommates that outlines their rights and obligations while living together. This agreement includes house rules, maintenance duties, restricted behaviors, and more. For a Roommate Agreement to be useful, everyone sharing the household must agree to it.
