Open housing Housing & Residence Life at the University of Chicago offers a gender-neutral housing option to students of all class years, allowing increased choice in selecting roommates, regardless of gender.
If you do not have a specific person in mind, you can conduct an online search for potential roommates and be presented with possible matches based on the information provided in your Profile. You will be able to contact potential roommates and update your application to request them.
Admitted students have the opportunity to share preferences on their housing application that are considered during the housing assignment process. Among the factors to consider are whether you prefer living alone or with a roommate and what habits would be most important to you in a roommate.
UIC Housing Assistance Grant Students must submit their FAFSA or Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid and a completed UIC Housing application to receive full consideration. Funding is limited and not all eligible students are awarded; funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
You may request one roommate, or you may apply without a roommate and the Housing Occupancy Office will use your Lifestyle Profile and College House preferences to match you with a roommate or suitemates. If you request a roommate: Make sure you list the same College House preferences in the same order.
Room selection is not guaranteed, so it is recommended that all residents choose a few roommates in case their first or second room preference is not chosen. To choose a roommate, you can filter out other potential roommates by searching through the questionnaire or simply by clicking suggested roommates.
To provide the opportunity for new students to meet new people and build new friendships, Stanford does not give freshmen and transfer students the option of requesting a particular roommate. You will learn who your roommate is, and your room number, after you arrive on campus.
Quiet Hours are in effect during the following periods in all Campus Housing facilities: Sunday – Thursday from pm – am.
I will not be a full time student, do I need to live on campus? The live-on requirement is for full-time, first-year students. If you are not a full-time student (12 credits for undergraduate students) you will need to submit an exemption.
