Description

This form offers education assistance to employees under certain circumstances. Courses must be from approved institutions of learning, such as accredited colleges, universities, and technical colleges or schools that offer certification in a field approved by employer. Also, the courses must be, in employer's opinion, directly or reasonably related to employee's present job or part of a degree program, or in line with a position that employer believes employee can reasonably achieve. If employee shall leave the employment of employer for any reason, within two years of any reimbursement, employee shall immediately repay all reimbursements back to employer.

To qualify, students must meet all of the following requirements: High school diploma, GED, or diploma equivalent requirement. High school diplomas earned outside of the U.S. People without a high school diploma or GED. Maintaining a primary Washington residence for 12 consecutive months. Parent/legal guardian residency.

The State Legislature requires state community colleges, colleges and universities to waive all undergraduate tuition and fees for eligible dependents of eligible veteran or national guard member up to 200 quarter credits or equivalent semester credits. Waivers for graduate credits are encouraged but not required.

City or county employment is not considered state employment. At the UW classified staff employees are covered by state civil service law (RCW 41.06). The UW has determined that professional staff and other contract covered staff follow the civil service law governing service credit unless explicitly stated otherwise.
