For students who are unable to come to campus for placement testing, The College Board ACCUPLACER's approved virtual proctoring third-party vendor, Examity, is available to students interested in placement testing from home.
Students taking the complete test should expect to spend 2.5 to 3 hours taking the test. After a student completes the test, the placement results will be sent to the student's NCC email. A second email will be sent to the student's NCC email with information regarding advisement and registration.
How long does the test take? Take about 30 minutes to complete this test. The test is divided into 3 levels: A1-A2, B1-B2, and C1-C2. Each level includes questions on grammatical comprehension, reading comprehension, and listening comprehension.
Placement assessments require approximately 90 minutes to complete, but the amount of time will vary by student. There will be a maximum of 30 questions. May I use a calculator while using ALEKS? ALEKS will provide an on-screen calculator if you need one to complete a particular problem.
The Accuplacer is a computerized self-paced, untimed test. The test is delivered in a multiple choice format. Most students complete the test within 1.5 to 2 hours. The test is adaptive; the Accuplacer determines which questions will be given next based upon previous answers.
