Admission Criteria A minimum of a 3.0 undergraduate GPA or B-equivalent (if GPA is not on a 4.0 scale) is required. It is important to note that some programs may have a higher standard for their GPA requirement, and you should consult with the program directly for further information.

A minimum of three (3) letters of recommendation are required for most programs. If your program requires less, it will be noted in the Recommendation section of the graduate application.

Choose your favorite and apply for winter admission by July 1-31. IGETC or the UCR breadth pattern for the School of Business is highly recommended. Attain a minimum GPA of 2.7 in all UC-transferable coursework and a minimum 2.5 GPA in the seven lower division major prerequisites.

Most top-ranked graduate programs typically prefer a GPA of 3.5 or better. Exceptions to this rule occur, of course, but many students give up their quest to attend graduate school due to a low (3.0 or less) GPA.

Transcripts & letters of recommendation Don't send official transcripts when you apply. If you're admitted to UC, then you must submit final transcripts to your campus admissions office. UC does not require (nor read) letters of recommendation at the time of application.
