Customer must contact Code Compliance at 817-392-1234 and request the Multi-Family inspection section. Get the officer for your particular address and set up a pre-inspection. (Not required for name change only) The customer has 60 days from the date of the Pre-CO inspection to come in and apply for their CO's.
Tarrant County does have building setback requirements so any building or structure should not be located within 25 feet from the edge of the right-of-way of any County road or within 50 feet from the edge of the right-of-way of any State highway.
Tarrant County does not have the authority to implement or enforce zoning or building codes in unincorporated areas of the county and therefore, Tarrant County does not issue Certificates of Occupancy or Building Permits.
A Certificate of Occupancy (CO) is a document issued by the county once a building satisfies the requirements of applicable codes and laws; it means that the building has been inspected and is safe to inhabit.
A building permit is required for new construction, additions, alteration, change of occupancy, renovations, relocations, and repairs or rehabilitation of a building or structure. Electrical, Plumbing and A/C, and Heating may also be required.
