Section 82-4-24. - Operator to give full time and attention to driving. No person shall operate a motor vehicle upon the highways of this County without giving his full time and attention to the operation of the vehicle. (3-13-63; 1961 Code, § 16-85.)
CPS in Fairfax County will assign a specialist if the child's caretaker is the perpetrator of the abuse. The safety of the child is the primary concern, and intervention occurs regardless of where the abuse occurred if the caretaker is involved.

Anyone can report suspected child abuse or neglect to a local department of social services or to the CPS Hotline. Callers will be asked to provide as much information as possible about the child, the alleged abuser and the incident.
CPS assesses and investigates suspected incidents of physical abuse and neglect; mental or emotional abuse; medical neglect; and sexual abuse by a child's caretaker (parent, guardian, etc.)
Fairfax County (and every other jurisdiction in the state of Virginia) uses four criteria to determine whether a report warrants assignment to a CPS specialist: The incident must have taken place in Virginia, It has to involve a child under the age of 18, The alleged perpetrator must be in a caretaker position,
There are some things that the Virginia CPS can not handle. By law, a CPS worker can not require that you give up the care of your child to a family member or friend. Only the Court can order this.
