FAQ

Amazon Relay carriers need a valid MC number and a DOT number with interstate authority that has been active for minimum of 180 days. You can still apply even if your DOT authority hasn't been active for 180 days — we'll keep you updated on key program news while you wait to join our network.

How many trucks do I need to work for Amazon? There are no fleet size requirements to haul for Relay as long as you have the right types of trucks for our freight – come one, come 100. Book long-haul trips to get every semi on overnights, or sleep in and run local jobs with your single box truck.

Once we receive your company's completed application, the application will be approved or rejected within 1-3 weeks. Delays, if any, will be due to validation of insurance information. Amazon urges you to have all data ready prior to applying and reach out to your insurance provider in the event of any delays.

Ensure you meet all the qualifications, such as having a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), a well-maintained truck that meets Amazon's standards, and adequate insurance coverage. Your truck must also be equipped with a GPS system, as Amazon Relay requires drivers to use the app for navigation and load tracking.

If you are delivering Amazon orders, you'll need to use a 4-door, mid-sized sedan or larger vehicle, such as a truck with a covered bed, SUV, or a van that can safely and reliably transport Amazon orders to customers. Smaller cars and trucks with open beds do not qualify.

Amazon will provide trucks to you without down payment and cover all planned and most unplanned maintenance. We will also cover all tolls and fuel costs.

Amazon's trucking contracts offer dedicated carriers work that runs for a single week up to six months. So if there's a one-way lane or roundtrip route your company loves, you may be able to book it regularly as a contract. Or you can use contracts to fill drivers' schedules during a slow season to keep revenue stable.

Amazon requires the following insurance coverages for Relay trucking companies: Commercial general liability insurance: $1 million per occurrence; $2 million aggregate. Auto liability insurance: $1 million per occurrence (including trailer replacement coverage of $50,000) Cargo coverage: $100,000.

For owners that own small or large fleets, Amazon requires: DOT identification in active status, that is active DOT number. Valid MC number (Interstate Authority). HOS compliance to adhere to commercial driving hours. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) safety rating is required.
