FAQ

Absolutely! MTG Arena does support drafting with friends. You and your buddies can join the same draft event and plan to enter at the same time. While you can't directly control being in the same draft pod, entering together increases your chances.

How to draft: First, players sit around a table in a semi-circle. Each player then opens a booster pack and picks a single card without showing the other players. Each player then passes the remaining cards to the left, and continues drafting from the new cards they get from the player on their right.

Unlocking draft in MTG Arena is pretty straightforward! You just need to play through the game's tutorial and complete some 'New Player Experience' quests. Once you've done that, draft modes become available. Keep an eye on your gold and gems, as you'll need these for the entry fees into the drafting events.

You, along with everyone else at the table, open one pack each and select—"draft"—one card from that pack. Then you pass the rest of the cards to the player on your left. The packs get passed around the table until all the cards are gone. You repeat this process for the second pack, passing to the right.

Quick draft is a format in MTG Arena that allows you to draft cards against bots using 14-card draft packs and build a 40-card deck to battle others. You'll receive rewards based on how many wins you earn and you get to keep all the cards you choose!

Building Your Prerelease Deck Once you've opened up all six of your Play Boosters, start by sorting your cards by color. This will help you determine what colors you have enough of to play in your deck. You should aim to play exactly 40 cards. No more, no less.

There are four suits: hearts, spades, diamonds, and clubs. Each suit includes 13 cards: numbers 2 through 10 and the jack, queen, king, and ace. Standard decks can also include 2-4 unsuited joker cards, bringing the card total to 54 or 56 cards.

Once you have 45 cards in your pile, it is time to build your deck. Booster Draft rules allow you to add as much basic land (only plains, island, swamp, mountain and forest) as you want to your deck and require that the deck be at least 40 cards. The standard number of lands in a draft deck is 17–18.
