The fact of the matter is that Pensacola – the westernmost city at the epicenter of all this Southern hospitality and Florida history – is just a few miles from the Alabama border.
It borders the Gulf of Mexico to the west, Alabama to the northwest, Georgia to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Straits of Florida and Cuba to the south.

Borders with other countries In addition to the states bordering on Canada and Mexico, the U.S. state of Florida shares maritime boundaries with Cuba and the Bahamas, and Alaska shares a water boundary with Russia (in addition to its land border with Canada).
Florida shares a land border with only two other states, both along its northern boundary: Georgia (east) and Alabama (west). The nearest foreign territory is the island of Bimini in the Bahamas, some 50 miles (80 km) to the east of the state's southern tip.
