The parties may agree to a different performance. This is called an accord. When the accord is performed, this is called an accord and satisfaction. The original obligation is discharged. In order for there to be an accord and satisfaction, there must be a bona fide dispute; an agreement to settle the dispute; and the performance of the agreement. An example would be settlement of a lawsuit for breach of contract. The parties might settle for less than the amount called for under the contract.

Your letter should identify each item you dispute, state the facts, explain why you dispute the information, and ask that the business that supplied the information take action to have it removed or corrected. You may want to enclose a copy of your report with the item(s) in question circled.

You can dispute a debit card transaction after you've: contacted the merchant and they haven't solved your issue. We recommend going directly to the merchant first as in most cases, they can sort the issue out faster than we can. waited 7 days and the transaction is showing as completed.
