We issue a Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) to all permanent residents as proof that they are authorized to live and work in the United States. If you are a permanent resident age 18 or older, you are required to have a valid Green Card in your possession at all times.
To sponsor your family member, submit a United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Form I-130. Each person you sponsor needs a separate Form I-130. You can submit the form online or by mail.
Your domicile is the state of your permanent home, or the state you consider your home whenever you are. elsewhere. Your domicile is an important place.
An affidavit of support is a legally enforceable contract, and the sponsor's responsibility usually lasts until the family member or other individual either becomes a U.S. citizen, or is credited with 40 quarters of work (usually 10 years).
To upload additional financial documents or add a joint sponsor, you will start on the Affidavit of Support Tab. From this page you can add a new sponsor or a household member. When adding or updating financial documents, you have to first choose the sponsor whose documents you are uploading from the drop-down list.
The sponsor does not have to prove the relationship to you (if you are the one being sponsored) but would have to give information of the spouse that was part of the joint filing including the US citizenship or legal residency. The marriage certificate would prove the relationship to the sponsor.
Driver's License or State ID: As it shows your permanent residence, a valid U.S. driver's license can act as proof of domicile. Voting Records: Registering to vote and taking part in American elections also show proof of U.S. domicile.
Joint Sponsor: If the primary sponsor's income does not meet the requirements, a co-sponsor is needed. This sponsor has the same responsibilities as the primary sponsor. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
All sponsors must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, be at least 18 years old, and be living in the United States (including territories and possessions) when they file the affidavit of support.
