Fort Walton Beach is probably a good choice. Both Destin and Ft. Walton Beach are beautiful, but Destin tends to be a little more upscale and pricey. But you can drive to the area attractions from either - the towns are right next to each other.
It is a good place the downsides are the limited roads/ two lanes in almost all places. The town is a bit inflated because of the tourism. It is southern culture, so lots of fried food- not as many healthy options as I would like. The beaches are beautiful though and the people are overall very nice.
Using a condo as a rental Even if your condo complex allows for rentals, check the rules for the minimum length of stay. Most condo buildings that allow rentals will not tolerate daily rentals. And some may even require your tenant to be approved by the association before they will allow occupancy.
Florida's beautiful beaches, strong economy, and sunny skies contribute to a high rental demand and high rent prices. Florida is one of the best states for investment rental properties, whether it be a single-family home or a multifamily duplex.
In Texas, the laws for short term rentals are crafted at the city level, with no specific state limitations on operations. Hosts are required to register with the Texas Comptroller's Office for state hotel occupancy tax collection but do not need a state license for running a vacation rental.
