We all sin, whether it's in words, deeds, or thoughts, but when the Spirit of God brings our sins to our thoughts, we need to repent immediately and turn away from the sin. Walking uprightly before God will bring an agreement; the individual is agreeing with God's word to live by them.
Learn to not only stand firmly on the promises of God but make a demand on them and expect them to happen. Another scripture that often comes to mind is Amos “How can two walk together unless they be agreed?” We think of two people walking together in agreement but Jesus called his disciples friends.
A covenant is essentially an agreement. The biblical term is often used to describe agreements that God made with various people. God would offer wonderful promises and ask the people to agree to obey certain rules.
It means total reliance on God and total obedience to His Word. We come to a point where we realize that without God, we are not. We come to a point where we know that God is all-powerful and when He says He will do something He actually does it regardless of the resistance we may face from other people.
This passage refers to one specific practice of Bible times. In order to confirm a covenant, two parties would a calf and cut it into two pieces. Then, they would pass together between the two parts of the dead animal as a solemn sign of both parties that they fully agreed to the terms of the covenant.
A proper “covenant relationship” with God requires five major experiences: 1) Faith, faith in Jehovah God and Jesus Christ. 2) Repentance of sins. 3) Confession of sins. 4) Baptism and 5) Obedience, effective operation of all of these means genuine conversion.

Within the gospel, a covenant means a sacred agreement or mutual promise between God and a person or a group of people. In making a covenant, God promises a blessing for obedience to particular commandments.
