This process includes consulting, drafting, filing, and responding to the USPTO to get an approved patent. The program strives to match inventors with volunteer attorneys who donate their services to help file patent applications.The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) requires faculty, student, and staff inventors to submit a disclosure form to begin the formal technology transfer process. The Pro Se Assistance Program is dedicated to help independent inventors and small businesses meet their goal of protecting valuable intellectual property. The Ohio Patent Pro Bono Program matches inventors with volunteer attorneys. The TTO performs these services, including commercial evaluation and patent filing, at no charge to the inventor. The OTEP will typically take around thirty days to review the invention disclosure and conduct the appropriate background research on the invention. You must submit specifications and drawings, with enough detail that your invention could be constructed from the description. If you're an inventor or small business owner, you may be eligible for free legal assistance in preparing and filing a patent application.
