Formal exchange programs facilitate the exchange of undergraduate students with other universities in Canada and abroad. These exchanges allow students to experience a different cultural and academic life, and receive credit for courses successfully completed.
Canadian Exchange Programs Opportunities for students exist at the University of Alberta, University of McGill, the University of Quebec, the University of Toronto, and Université Laval. These universities participate with UBC in the Canadian Scholars Exchange Program (CANEX).
Bilateral exchanges are 1-to-1 students exchanges with a partner institution. They are usually a semester or a year long. Summer exchanges may also be available.
Types of Student Exchange Programs Short term exchange – Students study abroad for anywhere from one week to a full semester, though it may be an entire academic year in some cases.
