Organizations apply for Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status using Form 1023, Form 1023A, or Form 1023-EZ. The Form 1023 is the default form to apply for Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. The Form 1023-EZ is a streamlined form available to organizations that meet certain qualifications.
Those who meet eligibility requirements must file an application (Form DR-501) with the Lee County Property Appraiser's office. Exemption applications must be submitted by March 1st of the year in which you qualify to be considered timely filed. File online at: .leepa.
Benefit to Homestead Exemption The first $25,000 of value is entirely exempt. The second $25,000 exemption applies to the value between $50,000 - $75,000 and does not include a benefit on the school tax.

North Carolina defers a portion of the property taxes on the appraised value of a permanent residence owned and occupied by a North Carolina resident who has owned and occupied the property at least five years, is at least 65 years of age or is totally and permanently disabled, and whose income does not exceed $56,850.

Senior Exemption Information The property must qualify for a homestead exemption. At least one homeowner must be 65 years old as of January 1. Total 'Household Adjusted Gross Income' for everyone who lives on the property cannot exceed statutory limits.
The Additional $50,000 Homestead Exemption for Persons 65 and older (FS 196.075) reduces the assessed value of your property and can result in significant tax savings.
