Applications for exemptions must be submitted to the Bexar Appraisal District. The Residential Homestead Exemption Form along with other forms used at the Bexar Appraisal District can be found on their website. To apply for an exemption, call the Bexar Appraisal District at 210-224-2432. You may also contact their agency directly by email or visit their website to obtain the necessary forms. The exemption will be forwarded to the tax office as soon as the Appraisal District updates their records.
Texas offers several types of Homestead Exemptions: Standard Homestead Exemption: Provides a $100,000 reduction in the appraised value for school district taxes. For example, a home appraised at $300,000 would have its taxable value reduced to $200,000, saving homeowners hundreds of dollars annually.
The amount of the exemption is based on the disabled veteran's disability rating. The application for the exemption under Tax Code Section 11.132 is Form 50-114, Residence Homestead Exemption Application (PDF).
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION Attach a copy of each property owner's driver's license or state-issued personal identification certificate. The address listed on the driver's license or state-issued personal identification certificate must correspond to the property address for which the exemption is requested.

Persons with a residence homestead are entitled to a 20% exemption of the market valuation of their home.

This service includes filing an exemption on your residential homestead property, submitting a Notice of Protest, and receiving important notices and other information online.
Disabled Person Exemption: Form 50-114 If they are transferring the DP from a different county, they need to provide a TCTC from their previous appraisal district. A person who qualifies for the Over 65 exemption and Disabled Person exemptions may receive both exemptions if they are placed on separate taxing entities.
