Certain properties, individuals or organizations may qualify for property tax exemptions. These may include religious or government properties, senior citizens, qualifying veterans, low-income individuals and people with disabilities.
Effective July 1, 2024, all business and inventory ad valorem property tax on tangible personal property is repealed.

Applicant must be a resident of West Virginia for minimum of two consecutive years to qualify for exemption. Exemption is limited to one owner residing in the home, regardless of the number of owners.
The purpose of the West Virginia Military Incentive Credit (formerly called the Veterans Employment Credit) is to encourage the employment of veterans and members of the guard and reserve forces in the private sector.
You must have lived at your homestead for at least six (6) months. You must have been a resident of West Virginia for the 2 consecutive calendar years prior to your application. You must be 65 years of age on or before June 30th of the next year.
An Exemption from real estate taxes shall be allowed for the first $20,000 of assessed value. All new applicants must file between July 1st and December 1st of each year. Application may be made at your County Assessors Office.
