FULTON. COUNTY. Homestead Exemption. Application Deadline: April 1. APPLY ONLINE. .fultonassessor. CALL US AT. 404-612-6440 x4. HOMESTEAD. EXEMPTION GUIDE. A Homestead Exemption is a legal provision, established by state law, that may reduce the assessed value on owner-occupied homes.
Applications can be filed year round, but must be submitted on or before April 1st in order to apply for the current tax year. Applications received after April 1st will be applied to the following tax year.
Property tax returns must be filed by April 1. If an application is received after that, it won't be granted until the next year. Unfortunately, missing the deadline means losing the exemption for that year.
Per the Texas Comptroller, the completed application and required documentation are due no later than April 30 of the tax year for which you are applying. A late homestead exemption application, however, may be filed up to two years after the delinquency date, which is usually Feb. 1.
