You must own the property and have an equity interest in it. This includes houses, condominiums, co-ops, and mobile homes. Your home equity must fall within the exemption limits for your county: $179,950 for the counties of Kings, Queens, New York, Bronx, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, Westchester, and Putnam.
The homestead credit is a property tax credit for residents of the state of Iowa who own and occupy their homestead on July 1 and for at least six months of the calendar year. It is a tax credit funded by the State of Iowa for qualifying homeowners and is based on the first $4,850 of actual value of the homestead.
You must live in the home to qualify for the tax break. Some states exempt a certain percentage of a home's value from property taxes, while other states exempt a set dollar amount. If your state uses a percentage method, the exemption will be more valuable to homeowners with more valuable homes.

Homestead Tax Credit Formula For claimants with household income of $8,000 or less, the credit is equal to 80% of property taxes or rent constituting property taxes to a maximum of $1,450 in property taxes or rent. The maximum credit is $1,160 (80% of $1,450 ).
Homestead Tax Credit Requirements While every county has its own cap, the highest increase can be no more than 10%. The Senior Tax Credit is available to homeowners at least 65 for whom the property is their principal residence (see the HOTC page for details); Interested homeowners must submit the Homeowners Tax Credit Application to the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT).
Maryland requires all homeowners to submit a one-time application to establish eligibility for the Homestead Tax Credit. The Homestead Tax Credit Eligibility Application is needed to ensure that homeowners receive the Homestead credit only on their principal residence.
The home must be your primary residence and you must have lived there for at least six months. The home wasn't transferred to a new owner. These wasn't a change in zoning that resulted in an increased property value. The purpose or use of the property was not substantially changed.
