Minors ages 16 and older are exempt from the hour and scheduling restrictions.A minor aged 14 or 15 years old can work up to 40 hours a week during Spring, Winter, and Summer Break. Minors 16 and 17 years old do not have time restrictions, but may not work in hazardous jobs such as manufacturing, construction, and similar fields. In South Carolina, the law sets a clear boundary: generally, no employment is authorized for minors under the age of 14. Work certificates are not required for 16 and 17yearolds. 16 and 17: May work the same hours as those who are 18 years old. Minors ages 16-18 years old may not work after 10pm or before 5am on a night preceding a school day. No federal laws restrict how many hours 16- to 18-year-olds can work.
