Full-time: Student enrolls and participates in 12 credit hours or more per semester. Three-quarter (¾)-time: Student enrolls and participates in 9, 10, or 11 credit hours per semester. Half (½)-time: Student enrolls and participates in 6, 7, or 8 credit hours per semester.
What constitutes “full time” depends on whether the school is on the semester system or the quarter system. In general, you're looking at 4 or 5 classes per term. You might be able to cram all those classes into two days, or they might span the entire week. It will likely add up to 15–20 hours of class per week.
To be considered a full-time student for any term, an undergraduate student must be enrolled in 12 units during that term.
In order to be considered a full-time student, most schools require that you take at least 12 credits per semester, while part-time students usually take somewhere around 6-8 credits per semester. Full-time students are expected to devote the bulk of their time to completing their studies.
