Description

The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 resulted from bribery of foreign government officials by Lockheed Aircraft Company. This Act is designed to prevent the bribing of foreign officials in order to obtain foreign government contracts. Payments to foreign officials for “facilitation,” often referred to as grease payments, are not prohibited under FCPA so long as these payments are made only to get officials to do their normal jobs that they might not do, or would do slowly, without some payment. These payments can be made only to secure a permit or license; obtain paper processing; secure police protection; provide phone, water, or power supply; or similar such actions.

How To Develop a Climate Action Plan Start with a leadership-backed commitment. Create a planning team. Understand where you're at and where you're going. Create specific goals and targets. Determine the steps needed to reach those goals and targets. Choose the right tools to help. Implement the plan.

Transitioning to energy sources that do not emit greenhouse gases, such as solar, wind, biofuels, and nuclear, can slow the pace of climate change, though these energy sources face hurdles ranging from manufacturing capacity to debates about where to some facilities. Images courtesy Energy.

What Are the Solutions to Climate Change? Ending our reliance on fossil fuels. Greater energy efficiency. Renewable energy. Sustainable transportation. Sustainable buildings. Better forestry management and sustainable agriculture. Conservation-based solutions. Industrial solutions.

Actions for a healthy planet Save energy at home. Much of our electricity and heat are powered by coal, oil and gas. Change your home's source of energy. Walk, bike or take public transport. Switch to an electric vehicle. Consider your travel. Reduce, reuse, repair and recycle. Eat more vegetables. Throw away less food.

Cut emissions Carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases are the main drivers of global warming. While climate change cannot be stopped, it can be slowed. To avoid the worst consequences of climate change, we'll need to reach “net zero” carbon emissions by 2050 or sooner.

Riverside's Green Action Plan targets a 5% reduction in mobile source pollution by 2020 and increase the number of clean fleet vehicles to at least 60%. Riverside regularly purchases alternative fuel vehicles.

The Climate Action and Adaptation Plan is a strategic roadmap to guide the City of Riverside in preparing for climate risks and creating meaningful reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
