FAQ

A student wishing to change his/her program should first obtain a Change of Program form at the Registrar's Office or the office of the academic department the student wishes to enter. The form lists the procedures to be followed. See "Grade Point Average" section in this catalog for possible effect on grades.

To officially change your program, you should meet with an Academic Advisor. You can submit a 'Program Change Request' form via Student Forms in MyHCC. Once HCC changes your program, you will need to build a declared plan from your dashboard, or use the 'Reset to declared plan' option in the Goals tab.

Freshmen: Cumulative high school GPA of at least 77. Grades of at least 75 in biology, chemistry or physics, and 2 years of college preparatory math. Transfers: Recommend completion of NCC's ENG 101, MAT 109, a 4-credit laboratory science (preferably Anatomy & Physiology 1). Overall GPA of 2.8 or above.

There is generally no limit to how many times a student may change their major, but Brooks says San Diego State recommends students "be settled into" their major by their junior year. Experts also discourage changing majors during junior or senior years, though it's technically possible for students to do so.

If you wish you change your major, please email advising.questions@mhcc or call 503-491-7315. Students who are interested in one of MHCC's Health Professions programs can follow the AGS in Health Professions Exploration degree. All students should work with an adviser to make an education plan.

Transcripts can be emailed to admissions@ncc by your high school or college only.

Most colleges require formal paperwork to change majors, which might include filling out a change of major form, obtaining approval from the dean or department head, and updating your academic records.

Once accepted, you may begin registering for Fall 2024 semester by logging into your myNCC Portal beginning at am on April 26, 2024.
