You can find your 17-digit order number on your packing slip or on the digital gift receipt we emailed you. If you cannot locate your packaging slip or digital gift receipt, but have the tracking number from the shipping, contact us.
Here's something you can try: Don't ask for the receipt, but set the person up to offer it. Start by thanking him or her for the gift and say what you like about it. Then offer an honest explanation as to why it's not right.

Can You Return a Gift on Amazon Without a Receipt? Unfortunately, no. Amazon gift returns only work if you have the 17-digit order number associated with the product. If you don't have this number available, you won't be able to return the item... or you'll have to ask the sender to give it to you.
If you are the sender of the gift and want to view the contents, you will need to log in to your Amazon account and go to the "Your Orders" section. From there, you should be able to find the order containing the gift and view the item(s) that were purchased.
To return a gift, use the Returns Center or Gift Returns page. Enter the order number, select items to return, choose a return method, and follow on-screen instructions. Gift recipients get refunds as Amazon Gift Cards. Ensure items are in original condition for full refunds.
Go to Your Orders. Find the item and select Share gift receipt. Select the link provided. Choose how you want to send the gift receipt to the recipient, for example, email, chat, SMS or any other.
