These are called “out-of-network providers,” or providers that don't accept your insurance. People abbreviate out-of-network as OON, so you might see the phrase written as “OON benefits” and “OON providers”

Out-of-network (OON) means a provider is not directly contracted to the health plan. OON providers are not part of the health plan's provider network, but some benefit plans (i.e., participating provider organization) provide health plan payments for OON providers.

Offers out-of-network (OON) therapy for insurance plans that we are not in network with, i.e., for insurance plans that we do not accept, or if a clinician does not accept insurance. We also accept HSA cards that you can use for therapy payments if a clinician is not in network with your insurance.

Plans that fall under ERISA include defined benefits and defined contributions plans, 401 plans(k), 413b plans, EPSOPs, or profit-sharing plans. ERISA also covers private health plans such as health maintenance organizations (HMOs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).

“Out-of-network” refers to physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers who are not contracted with a particular health insurance plan.
