Note that Washington is an “escrow state,” meaning the closing process does not require an attorney. (That's as opposed to an “attorney state” wherein—you guessed it—closing does require an attorney.)

The State of Washington imposes a 6.5% sales tax on all retail sales as defined by statute (RCW 82.08. 020). Cities, towns, counties, transit districts, and public facilities, districts may impose additional local sales taxes as described below.

Washington state's escrow process is similar to other states where an escrow agent is used to complete the transaction. The escrow company will notify the seller's agent when the title has recorded, and the seller's agent will usually then deliver the keys to the buyer's agent or the buyer.
