If you have an exceptional situation that requires you to submit a paper I-765, you can download the I-765 Form from the USCIS website and complete it as a form-fillable PDF or if needed you can legibly hand write the information in black ink.
Although you may use black ink to fill in your Form I-130 by hand, it's preferable to file a typed petition.
We suggest printing this document and having it in hand when completing the Form I-765. Be sure to TYPE the form, do not complete it by hand. The only exception is your signature. Print the form single-sided only and do not staple together.
USCIS will consider a photocopied, faxed, or scanned copy of an original, handwritten signature as valid for filing purposes.
Visit the Feedback Opportunities page to share your ideas and comments with USCIS. If you would like to notify us of a systemic operational issue, such as a pattern of potentially incorrect notices, you may contact us at public.engagement@uscis.dhs.
Mail your forms to the address listed on that form's webpage. You may send your forms through USPS, FedEx, DHL, or UPS. We encourage you to save a copy of your payment, along with any tracking number provided by the courier, for your records and so you can verify the status of its delivery.
2108 E. Elliot Rd. Washington, D.C. Go to our USCIS Lockbox Filing Locations Chart for Certain Family-Based Forms page for the filing address based on where you live. You can file Form I-130 online even if your relative is in the United States and will file their Form I-485 by mail.
If you need to provide additional documents after submitting your application, you must submit them at least five business days before your interview. If you filed a paper application, submit them to your local asylum office. If you filed online, upload them to your existing USCIS online account.
If any of the form's pages are missing or are completed with a different edition of the form, we may reject your application. If you hand write your answers, use black ink.
USCIS, through the Secure Mail Initiative (SMI), uses USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation to deliver certain immigration documents in a safe, secure, and timely manner.
