How to register for sales tax in Washington. Washington allows remote and foreign sellers to register for sales tax online. First you must apply for a business license using the Department of Revenue (DOR) Business Licensing Wizard. Then you can register for sales tax.
Paying sales and use tax Log in to My DOR. On the My DOR Services page, click on File a Consumer Use Tax Return, then follow the directions. If you don't have an online account with the Department, you can set one up by going to dor.wa. Click on Log in and then Sign up. File a paper consumer use tax return.
How we calculate use tax. We use a vehicle or vessel's fair market value (see below) to calculate use tax. The use tax is the sum of the 0.3% motor vehicle sales and use tax and the sales tax rate at the buyer's address.
