How Many Hours Is a Full-Time College Student? What constitutes a full-time status depends on the academic institution. Generally, full-time is considered to be at least 12 credit hours. However, some schools consider nine credit hours to be full-time.

Credit Hours Received Per Class At Collin the number of credit hours for each class is represented by the second number in the course number. For example: Math 1314 has a value of three credit hours. Math 2412 has a value of four credit hours.
Fall or Spring Semesters - students enrolled for 12 or more credit hours are considered full-time students. An average load for a student with a 2.00 or higher GPA 15-17 credit hours; however, if such a student is enrolled in only five courses, as many as 18 credit hours is also considered an average load.
