Walk-In. Public counters are open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. All public counters are closed from a.m. to p.m. Walk-in services are not available after 3 p.m. and walk-in customers arriving after 1 p.m. may not be seen.
Building permits are required by California law to ensure public health, safety and general welfare and to protect life and property. A permit is required to construct, enlarge, alter, convert (including change of occupancy, use, or character), repair, move, or demolish a structure.
From October through April, the museums are open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. They close at 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. During May through September, the attractions are open each day from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The museums are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
