The GA POST Council has voted to end the recertification requirement for all POST certified peace officers, effective January 1, 2022. There will be no further recertification process. POST also recommends the returning officer take the 16-hour GA Criminal Law course either at GPSTC or from a POST certified instructor.

Minimum Training & Experience: Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, possess a valid driver's license, a citizen of the United States, possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Applicants who are not POST certified in Georgia will be sent to a regional academy for their POST requirements.
